“I AM”
A Teaching Series
in John’s Gospel
SUMMER 2026
Jesus repeatedly uses the phrase "I Am" (ἐγώ εἰμι) to reveal his identity. These statements echo the divine name revealed in the Book of Exodus 3:14 and invite people not just to understand Jesus but to encounter him.
Each I AM statement speaks to a deep human need. This series invites us to spend time with some of Jesus' most personal and revealing words - His "I AM" statements in John's Gospel. Each one offers not just an image, but an invitation: to see more clearly who Jesus is and to discover what life with him truly looks like. Together, they draw us beyond surface-level faith into something deeper, where our hunger, direction, security, and purpose are all found in him.

John 6:25-59
On Sunday, we began a new teaching series in the Gospel of John, beginning with “I am the bread of life.”...JESUS IS ALL THAT WE NEED.
“I am the bread of life. Or in other words, I am the food that you need.” “You don’t need anything else. Church. You just need Jesus.”AN OPEN INVITATION.
“What we feed on shapes who we become.” “This is bread for the hungry, not a reward for the deserving.”

John 8:12-20
On Sunday, we continued our I Am series in the Gospel of John, focusing on Jesus’ words in John 8. Jesus clearly declares who He is when He says, “I am the light of the world.”JESUS BRINGS LIGHT:
“Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus brings clarity, hope, and life into a dark world.REFLECTING HIS LIGHT:
God’s light shines on everyone, but we do not all reflect it the same way. God calls us not just to receive His light, but to reflect it to the world around us.BECOMING LIKE CHRIST:
God is more interested in who we are becoming than what we are doing. As we walk closely with Him, He forms us so His light can be seen through us.

John 10:1-10
On Sunday, we continued our I Am series in the Gospel of John, focusing on Jesus’ words about being the gate for the sheep.
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY
“There is no other way to be saved other than through Jesus.” We all need forgiveness, and there is only one person who can offer it. We have to enter through the gate and fully accept what Jesus has done for us.GOING THROUGH THE GATE
“Many people approach the gate but don’t go through.” It’s not just saying thank you, it’s giving your whole life over. To walk through the gate is to accept Jesus and give your life to Him.HEARING HIS VOICE
“The flock hear his voice.” We all hear from God in different ways, but we need to learn to recognise it. When we know His voice, we know where to go and how to live.SAFE AND SENT
“While we’re safe in the sheepfold, that’s not what we’re made for.” We are safe with Jesus, but we are also called to go out, to live in the world and point others to Him.

John 10:11-18
In part four of the I Am series in the Gospel of John, we are focusing on Jesus as the good shepherd.
GOOD SHEPHERD VS HIRED HAND
The hired hand is only in it for what they can get and runs when things get difficult. Jesus cares deeply for his sheep and is willing to lay down his life for them.UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
There is no condition on you for Jesus’s love. He loves you because he loves you and is willing to sacrifice himself for you.
You are worth it.ONE FLOCK AND ONE SHEPHERD
There is one flock and one shepherd. Jesus is bringing more people in as he is on the move. We are called to be ready to welcome others in.

John 11:17-44
In this part of the I Am series, we are focusing on Jesus as the resurrection and the life.
LIFE MATTERS
“Life on this earth matters. It’s not an audition.” Every single person matters to God. This life is real and important. God cares about our lives here and now, not just what comes after.DO YOU BELIEVE
“Do you believe... not just with your words but with your life?”
Belief is not just saying something once. It is living it out. It is trusting Jesus, following Him, and stepping into action.RESURRECTION LIFE
“I am the resurrection and the life.” This is not only about after death. There is a resurrection life now. Jesus meets us in pain and grief and offers new life, hope, and a future with Him.

John 14:1-7
In the penultimate part of the I Am series in the Gospel of John, we are focusing on Jesus as the way, the truth and the life.
WE ALL WANT A MAP
We all ,want a map to life. We crave direction and certainty, longing just to see what to do next. But Jesus doesn’t give a map. He says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled."I AM THE WAY
How do we know the way? How do we know where to go? Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth and the life." The way isn’t your effort or your striving. You don’t need to work harder or try harder. The way is in Jesus.THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE
All of us are searching for the way, for truth and for life. Underneath it all is a search for God. Not just survival, but life in all its fullness. Not just direction, but relationship.

John 15:1-11
In the final part of the I Am series in the Gospel of John, we are focusing on Jesus, the true Vine.
ABIDE IN JESUS
“Abide in me and I in you… as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself… neither can you unless you abide in me.” The invitation is to stay near to Christ, to remain with him, to be physically close rather than distant, to relationally remain rather than be absent.
RECEIVE HIS LOVE
Do you know the depths of his love for you? Because that changes things. When we recognise we are the beloved of Christ, we stop striving and we start abiding. Do you love Christ because he really loves you?BEAR MUCH FRUIT
Apart from him, we simply cannot. Bearing fruit is not about doing more stuff. It’s the Lord living his way through us. Do you build your life around Jesus or simply try to fit him into it? Do you seek to bear fruit or much fruit? Do you carry his joy with you?
